Well Dweller
Glimmer carries one small flame into the wretched queendom.

Well Dweller is Kyle Thompson's dark fairy-tale metroidvania, published with Top Hat Studios, Inc. and Doyoyo Games. You play Glimmer, a tiny bird who leaves a forest well with a matchstick and a job that sounds impossible: burn the wicked queen and bring the flock home. Steam presents the game as the next work from the creators of Crypt Custodian and Islets. The full release landed on 22 September 2026 for Windows on Steam, with Nintendo Switch, Switch 2, PlayStation 5, Xbox, and GOG storefronts in the same window.
Official trailer
Official stills from the kingdom
The Steam page ships eight screenshots. The three plates above are the ones that lock the look of these stills: the Groundskeeper fight in foggy blue-green grass, the matchstick burning in a black cavern next to a skull, and the in-game map drawn as pale linework on dark ground. Captions name only those visible subjects. Nothing here is a reconstructed map with invented coordinates.
Kyle Thompson's YouTube channel hosts the first-party trailers. The facade on this hub is the release trailer. A reveal trailer, a demo trailer, and a boss preview sit on later routes so the hub loads one player. Play is click-to-load on youtube-nocookie, with no audio until you ask for it.
A fourth and fifth Steam still sit lower on this page so the opening gallery can stay three wide. They are later underbelly and kingdom shots from the same official set, not crops of the plates above. If a still is not in that set, it is not on this hub.
Glimmer leaves the well
Steam about copy opens at the bottom of a forest well. The only creature brave enough to kill the queen lives there. That creature is Glimmer, a tiny bird armed with a matchstick. Lighting the match illuminates the world and aids combat. The goal is blunt: burn the wicked queen to save his family. Top Hat's product page repeats the same premise in publisher voice.
The flock is not an unnamed mass. Steam says sheltered siblings were snatched by a crazed hunter. The achievement list then names Egbert, Thimble, Thistle, and Magda, and it asks you to reunite the flock. Those names and tasks live on Glimmer. The hunter himself is a Steam achievement, Snatched Up, not a fan nickname.
Kyle told 80.lv that he builds the game in GameMaker, animates in Spine, and draws in Photoshop, and that his brother Eric Thompson writes the music. That production note explains the illustrated, woodcut-adjacent look of the stills without turning this hub into a tools list.
A rotting queendom and a small cast
The landscape is a dark fairy-tale kingdom that Steam calls wretched and rotted. Glimmer has to forge a path to the queen's quarters. Publisher press and the 80.lv interview add one motive the store page leaves implicit: the queen wants a royal gown from bird feathers. Hide and Seek is evade the Queen. The End is battle the Queen. Those two Steam tasks bookend the hunt on Queendom.
The underbelly is where the game keeps company. Go camping with Ilda, a tiny mouse on the run from the queen. Explore an abandoned castle with Looter, a scavenger who sells stolen wares. Later achievements stitch Looter back together, send you to a spa, and ask you to escape Webdrench Inn. Named bosses on the achievement list include the Groundskeeper, the swarm, the Lady of the Drains, the Shrine of the Seven Sons, Starsinger, the Gravedigger, and the Silver Doll. Dwellers and Beasts keep those lists honest instead of padding them into fake dex pages.
Platforms, trinkets, and the 41 unlocks
Steam lists 41 achievements, full controller support including DualShock and DualSense, Steam Cloud, Family Sharing, and a language set that covers English, French, German, Spanish from Spain, Brazilian Portuguese, Russian, Simplified Chinese, Japanese, Korean, and Traditional Chinese. Accessibility flags on the store page include Camera Comfort, custom volume, adjustable difficulty, a keyboard-only option, playable without timed input, and save anytime. The Windows minimum is Windows 10, 4 GB RAM, 1 GB of storage, and a GT 220 or HD 4650 class GPU. macOS and Linux are not listed.
Trinkets upgrade abilities. Steam about copy says to mix-and-match them to customize play. The achievement list then counts 1, 10, and 32 trinkets, 10 and 50 slots, a workshop upgrade, and a fully maxed set. Individual trinket names are not published, so Trinkets tracks those counts instead of inventing a 32-name dex. Illustrated story-page sets named on Steam are The Lookout Tower, The Dollmaker's House, and The Witch's Bargain.
A free Steam demo (app 4540890) launched on 23 April 2026 and later joined Steam Next Fest. Kyle's news posts document bubble aiming, oil-flask healing, postbox letters, and time trials. Use Platforms to pick a store and Well Dweller demo to read that patch line. 41 Steam Achievements is the filterable ledger of every official icon.
Where to go after this hub
Meet Glimmer if you want the named birds and the hunter sentence. Learn the matchstick if you want vessels, soar, and the water unlock. Browse achievements if you want all 41 icons with filters. Those three tasks are the field-note index this homepage is built around, visible in the first screen on a phone and beside the trailer on a desk.
Queendom, Dwellers, and Beasts split the rotting kingdom into hunt, underbelly, and Defeat rows. Trinkets and Story pages split the two collect systems Steam actually counted. Platforms and the demo page split stores from the April-to-June patch line. Demo is not in the top bar because it sits under Platforms as a versioned child.
Official store, publisher, and YouTube links sit in the sources list at the foot of each page. Dates appear when the fact is a release day or a patch day: 23 April 2026 for the demo, 15 June 2026 for Next Fest, 22 September 2026 for the full Steam release. They are not capture stamps.
Sources at the foot of the page are Steam, Top Hat, YouTube, and Steam news. They render as a list, not as in-sentence capture stamps.
